SIRENS OF GOTHAM ANNOUNCES STEPHANIE OFSHINSKY AS ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Stepping into the permanent role in 2027 after serving as Interim Artistic Director for 2026.

Sirens of Gotham is pleased to announce the selection of Stephanie Ofshinsky as Artistic Director. Having served in the role of Interim Artistic Director several times, including her most recent full-year appointment, the chorus is thrilled to have her stepping into this permanent role.

Since January 2026, Stephanie has led the chorus in a number of initiatives and milestones. Sirens served as the host chapter for the Greater NY-NJ Region 15 Contest & Convention staffing the event, fundraising, serving as the mic testing chorus, and also putting together a meaningful swan-set performance. Hosted two guest cycles to introduce barbershop and bring new singers into the chorus. Had a successful overnight retreat weekend filled with chorus bonding and coaching from Founding Director and reigning Queen of Harmony, Sarah Clay Lindvall. And met with every individual singer for a PVI (personal vocal instruction, or voice lesson) to ensure that each Siren has the tools to personally level up their own vocal and performance skills.

Stephanie has shown a dedication to Sirens of Gotham that is only matched by her own passion for personal growth and improvement. She embodies our core values of joy, ambition, and authenticity in the thoughtful ways that she plans and leads. She has and will continue to be responsible for defining and implementing the artistic vision behind Sirens of Gotham and leading the chorus to the Sweet Adelines International stage in its first appearance as the Greater New York-New Jersey Chorus Champions.

“With full and enthusiastic support from the chorus, I am ecstatic that Steph has accepted the offer to become our permanent Artistic Director. Her thoughtful leadership as our interim director helped us to navigate some major operational changes over the past year. Steph has led us back to a renewed sense of joy and ambition as we get ready to take on the international stage. We are honored to sing under her direction!” said President of the Board, Amy Heaton.

Looking ahead, the chorus will be performing both locally and on the International stage, thrilled to be doing so with this next chapter of artistic direction secured and with new music and events already in the works.

About Sirens of Gotham

Sirens of Gotham is an a cappella chorus that specializes in barbershop harmony. Membership is open to singers of all marginalized genders who are comfortable singing somewhere in the SSAA range. This may include cis women, trans people of all gender identities, non-binary people, and gender fluid people. It is the mission of Sirens to build an encouraging, inclusive environment for singers to pursue the highest levels of artistry and musical excellence in a cappella singing; to master the art of barbershop harmony; and to cultivate meaningful artistic experiences that enrich the lives of our members, our audiences, and the local community.

Sirens of Gotham is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit whose aim is to constantly educate, innovate, and raise the bar for a cappella as the active NYC chapter of the barbershop music organization Sweet Adelines International. The ensemble was established in November of 2011, but chartering as a chapter of SAI in February 2013 kicked off a period of exponential growth. The chorus has medaled in local competitions at the New York Harmony Sweepstakes, BHS (Barbershop Harmony Society)  Mid-Atlantic District and SAI Region 15 Competitions. In October 2018, they made their international competition debut at the SAI Harmony Classic barbershop chorus competition in St. Louis, MO, where they won 1st place Division A and 1st place overall. In 2025 they won their first SAI Region 15 Chorus Championship, qualifying them for the International chorus Competition. The ensemble has appeared on multiple televised broadcasts, starred in a reality show, and performed in a variety of world-renowned venues. Their performance at the SAI International chorus contest this coming October will be the ensemble’s fourth international barbershop competition appearance, but their first as the Regional Chorus Champions.
